Zug Open

The Zug Open is the fourth-largest ATP professional tournament in Switzerland after Basel, Geneva and Gstaad. It took place for the second time in July 2023 at Tennisclub Zug on clay courts. Tournament ambassador Severin Lüthi opened the week with the Kids & Family Day. This was followed by many matches with top-class tennis and a great atmosphere on centre court. After Dominic Stricker had already lost in the first round and Fabio Fognini in the semi-final against Belgian Joris De Loore, top seed Arthur Rinderknech took the title against the surprise man of the tournament. The Frenchman defeated De Loore in 3 sets (3:6 6:3 6:4).

ATP Challenger Tour

Founded in 1978, the ATP Challenger Tour is a series of international professional tennis tournaments for men. They form the substructure of the ATP Tour, while they have higher prize money than the tournaments of the ITF Future Tour, where tennis players usually start their careers. The Challenger Tour is primarily used by players outside the top 100 of the world rankings to collect enough ranking points to participate in tournaments on the ATP Tour and the Grand Slams. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic also earned ATP points in this way before becoming figureheads and legends of the sport.

The Zug Open takes place at the tradition-steeped Tennisclub Zug. The centerpiece of the tournament facility is the Centre Court with a grandstand for 900 spectators and an additional Southern stand. There are two further match courts for 200 spectators, while the remaining courts are used for training sessions and events. The public Tennis Village with marquee, bar, live music, entertainment and sponsor stands is freely accessible.

Getting there

On foot
The tournament site at the Tennisclub Zug can be reached on foot in 20 minutes from the train station.

We recommend traveling by public transport. Buses 3 and 4 run from «Zug, Metalli/Bahnhof» to «Baar, Stadtgrenze» and «Zug, Grienbach» respectively.

The number of parking spaces is very limited during the week. On the final weekend (July 27/28), paid parking spaces are available in the «Mobility Hub Zug Nord» parking garage at Industriestrasse 61, 6300 Zug (CHF 10.-/day).
