Valentin Royer, Benjamin Bonzi and Cristian Garin headline a high-calibre anniversary entry list for 2026

The player field for the Dialectic Zug Open (ATP Challenger 125), taking place from 19 to 26 July 2026, has been confirmed. The entry list is headed by Frenchman Valentin Royer (ATP No. 75), who will make his first appearance in Zug. Alongside Benjamin Bonzi, Cristian Garin, Zug Open 2024 champion Jerome Kym and a strong Italian contingent, the anniversary edition promises one of the strongest fields in the tournament's history. It was also announced in June that Swiss rising star Henry Bernet has been awarded a main draw wildcard.

Top seed Valentin Royer (ATP No. 75) arrives in Zug as one of the most in-form French players on the circuit. The 25-year-old reached a career-high ranking of World No. 54 earlier this year. A three-time Challenger title winner, Royer also reached the final of the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou in 2025 and enjoyed his best Grand Slam performances to date by reaching the second round at both Wimbledon and the US Open.

Fellow Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi (ATP No. 93) will also feature in Zug. The former World No. 42 captured his maiden ATP Tour title at the ATP 250 event in Metz in 2024 and boasts an impressive record of 13 Challenger titles, as well as notable victories over Daniil Medvedev at the 2025 US Open and Casper Ruud in Metz in 2024.

Cristian Garin (ATP No. 125), a proven clay-court specialist, will make his first appearance in Zug this summer. The Chilean has won five ATP titles during his career, including the ATP 500 event in Rio de Janeiro in 2020, and reached a career-high ranking of World No. 17 in 2021. His best Grand Slam result came with a quarter-final run at Wimbledon in 2022.

Italy strongly represented – Jerome Kym returns to Zug

Italy will be particularly well represented in this year’s main draw, with five players set to compete: Francesco Maestrelli (ATP No. 128), Francesco Passaro (ATP No. 185), Gianluca Cadenasso (ATP No. 190), Stefano Napolitano (ATP No. 242) and Raul Brancaccio (ATP No. 248). Italy therefore becomes the most represented nation in the main draw.

Among the wider group of title contenders is Brazil’s Thiago Seyboth Wild (ATP No. 243). The former World No. 58 captured the ATP 250 title in Santiago in 2020 and made headlines around the world in 2023 when he defeated then World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in the first round of the French Open.

From a Swiss perspective, attention will focus not only on Henry Bernet but also on Jerome Kym (ATP No. 196). The Aargau native lifted the Dialectic Zug Open trophy in 2024 after defeating Argentina’s Roman Andres Burruchaga in the final and now returns to Centre Court at Tennisclub Zug as a former champion.

It was already announced in mid-June that Bernet would once again receive a main draw wildcard. The winner of the 2025 Australian Open boys» singles title made his breakthrough on the ATP Challenger Tour in Zug in 2024, reaching the quarter-finals as a 17-year-old.

In addition to Bernet, two further main draw wildcards will be awarded ahead of the tournament. Six players will qualify for the 32-player main draw through the qualifying competition.

Rainer Leemann, President of the Zug Open Association and member of the Organising Committee, said:

«For our fifth anniversary, we are delighted to present a player field of exceptional quality. The high number of players ranked inside the ATP Top 200 demonstrates how well the tournament has established itself on the ATP Challenger Tour over recent years. At the same time, spectators can look forward to an exciting mix of experienced ATP professionals, emerging talents and Switzerland’s brightest prospects.«
